Ancient Temple to Mithras Discovered in France October 10, 2010
Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Witchy News , add a commentJust at the end of last month, archeologists have discovered a third-century sanctuary dedicated to the Indo-Iranian god Mithras near Angers, France. The discovery consists of a small, rectangular chapel, in which it is believed that worshippers celebrated the god and offered him sacrifices. The “tauroctony”, a typical bas-relief of the god Mithras wearing his Phrygian cap shows and slaughtering a bull, is also present in the sanctuary.

She was one of the Norse deities of earth and water and sister of Freyr the god of farming, weather and also a phallic fertility god. People were reaching out to goddess Freyja for assistance in child birth, help with fertility problems, and help with marital problems or to provide them with abundance upon the land and sea. In some cultures, Freyja is god’s Frey wife and just like him she is associated with material abundance and wealth.

The earliest appearance in print was in 1974 in Eddie Stone’s book, ’’Donald Writes No More’’. Its Russian equivalent is ’’As the call, so is the echo’’. All religions and cultures in some form hold this idea to be true. For example in Mesopotamia Hamurabi an ancient ruler created the first code of laws. It contained this little nugget which you will recognize – “An eye for an eye…”
