Pastor Arrested After Anti-”Demon” Protest August 27, 2010
Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Random Ramblings , trackbackJust about a week ago, in Warner Robins city, a pastor named Donald Crosby was arrested for protesting against the town’s High School’s “Demon” nickname and mascot. Crosby, who is a pastor of Kingdom Builders Church of Jesus Christ in Macon, declared that his protest was against the school’s demon logo which he considers to encourage kids to do evil and praise demons and that he’d do it again any time:
“I don’t scare easily. Lock me up as many times as you have to lock me up. Even kill me if you have to. I’m standing up for Jesus.”
Asking the city of Warner Robins to repent for its “demon” praising, the pastor protested alongside a group of people outside the school right on the opening day of classes. But because he did not have a picketing permit, as required, Crosby was arrested after being asked several times by the police officers to leave the property and not return unless he obtains a permit. He was charged with picketing without a permit and disorderly conduct for not leaving when asked and has been released on bond.
Crosby also started a petition to remove the demon as the Warner Robins High School’s mascot and logo and in response supporters of the logo started a petition to keep the mascot. Until this moment, school officials say they have no intention to change the high school’s mascot.
What do you think about Crosby’s action? Does he have a point about the mascot having evil connotations or he’s just exaggerating?
