She was one of the Norse deities of earth and water and sister of Freyr the god of farming, weather and also a phallic fertility god. People were reaching out to goddess Freyja for assistance in child birth, help with fertility problems, and help with marital problems or to provide them with abundance upon the land and sea. In some cultures, Freyja is god’s Frey wife and just like him she is associated with material abundance and wealth.
