Chocolate: An Delicious Aphrodisiac July 29, 2010
Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Random Ramblings , trackbackFor centuries, people all over the world, no matter the age or gender, have loved eating chocolate. Most of that enthusiasm comes from me personally. Besides its incredible taste that we all love, chocolate is also known worldwide as an aphrodisiac. You surely have heard that famous phrase according to which “chocolate is better than sex”.
The Aztecs were among the first civilizations known for using the cocoa bean for sexual arousal. Emperor Montezuma supposedly consumed large amounts of cocoa with the purpose of increasing his libido.
Well, the truth is that a scientific link does exist between chocolate and sexual appetite. For example, back in 2004, a research made in Milan, Italy on nearly two hundred women had the following results: women with a lower libido reported an increase in their sexual desire after eating chocolate. The scientific explanation behind the results is that chocolate contains Serotonin and Phylethylamine, both mod-lifting hormones found in the human brain. That is why when consuming chocolate we experience both a feeling of excitement as well as an energy level increase.
It is also known that chocolate and magic go hand in hand, or better said a nice and effective way to bring someone you love closer to your heart is by gifting them with a box of heart-shaped chocolate!
