Conservative religious organization is trying to unseat California judges June 18, 2010
Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Witchy News , trackbackOkay, so this isn’t really Wicca-related but it’s something unheard of: A conservative religious organization is trying to unseat judges in the upcoming California election. Here’s the main story: a group of conservative attorneys who say they are on a mission from God have launched an online campaign to replace the incumbent judges, all Democrats, with Christian conservatives.
Claiming that they are “God’s ambassadors”, the four San Diego Superior Court candidates are being supported by groups of pastors, gun enthusiasts, and opponents of abortion and same-sex marriages. A very interesting statement comes from one of the group’s candidates, Craig Candelore: “We believe our country is under assault and needs Christian values… God has called upon us to do this only with the judiciary.”
A very interesting an unpleasant fact is that this movement, called “Better Courts Now”, was initiated by Don Hamer, San Diego County’s late Zion Christian Fellowship pastor who also campaigned locally for California’s ban on gay marriage, Proposition 8, and vetted the candidates. They go so far as to call same-sex marriage “domestic terrorism“.
Whatever happened to “judge not that ye be not judged“? I strongly encourage all of you who are living in California to get out and vote for someone other than these guys because I’m sure that none of you wants someone with a specific agenda to run your court system. So make sure you make your voice heard!
