The Wizarding World of Harry Potter has an opening date April 8, 2010
Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Amusing Musings , trackbackHarry Potter fans of all ages I have great news! The opening date for Harry Potter Park has been announced: June 18th! Just two more months and the wait is over! I know I’ll probably get some flak from fellow Wiccans who find Harry Potter either offensive or to perpetuate a negative or “silly” image of what witches really are, but I personally enjoyed the books and thought they were a hoot.
The highly anticipated 20-acre attraction inside Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventures Park was created with the contribution of set designers from the Harry Potter movie series and author J.K Rowling so expect to be amazed! Here’s what one of the members of the creation team has to say about it: “This is so authentic to what I experienced on the films that I find it hard to tell them apart.” Not a bad endorsement! I’ve been to Universal before and if it’s anything like their other attractions, we’re in for a treat.
The main attraction of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be a ride called Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. In addition to that visitors will have the chance to visit Dumbledore’s office, Three Broomsticks restaurant and the Hog’s Head, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Diagon Alley, Hogsmeade village and, of course, the Hogwarts Express. Also, two outdoor roller coasters will be there waiting for all of you adrenaline junkies. Nothing is missing: rides, dining and shopping!
Saving the best for last, some lucky guests who buy a special Harry Potter travel package will be able to check out the park starting May 28. I don’t know how successful it’ll be in these economic times, but if I had the money (and free time), I’d so be there!
