Beltane – Spring’s Festival of Fire and Fertility April 19, 2010

Posted by The Wayward Wiccan in : Wiccan Words , trackback

The countdown for Beltane has begun for all the Pagans and Wiccans living in the Northern Hemisphere. There are only a couple of days until the first day of May when the celebration of fertility and renewal begins.

Usually the festivities start on the last nigh of April and depending on everyone’s traditions there are a number of ways to celebrate this Sabbat. Here are some of the rituals and traditions you might want to try by yourself or alongside fellow Pagans:

Beltane Maypole Dance

Beltane Bonfire Rites and Rituals

Of course, no Beltane celebration is complete without a proper feast. The best foods you can celebrate with are the ones honoring earth’s fertility: soups, Scottish bannocks, early summer salads, fertility bread or green man cake just to name a few delicious dishes.

Also, don’t forget to decorate your home! Be crafty and creative and use beautiful flower crowns, Maypole altar centerpieces, May Day Cone Baskets or Beltane Fire Incense.
